My take?

Its research grant time...

One potential benefit of this system is that electric cars could be charged in seconds, as the material is a pumpable liquid. This could mean that the battery of an electric car could be "recharged" in roughly the same length of time as petrol cars can be filled up.

Takes about 10 to 15 minutes to fill up and pay at a fuel station and buy a mars bar today.

The batteries I use in my helicopter can charge at 8C. There are some that can charge much faster. But at 8C thats 95% full from completely empty in 7.5 minutes. With no pumping of fluids or anything. I can fly again, in 8 minutes! But some packs can be charged at up to 15C and commonly available, and thats twice as fast again!

This is 4 or 5 year old technology. That many of us use every weekend at the local flying site. Why is it that you think that the little portable hobby chargers have 40A or 1500 watts capability? Heres a battery pack that you can charge faster. At 15C... Thats around 4 minutes.

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/graphene-13 ... -xt60.html Its available in bigger and different S sized packs.

So by the time their fliud electrolyte battery ever gets developed with $$$$ research (if it ever does) then it will already be pointless. Because the 4 minute charge battery is already old hat that you can buy today...
